\nCommunity Practice Innovation Award to Help Advance Patient Care and Improve Patient Health<\/i>\n<\/p>\n

ATLANTA–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Rheumatology Research Foundation today announced the launch of a new grant, the Community Practice Innovation (CPI) Award. The grants will empower rheumatology practitioners to generate new research that advances patient care and improves the health of those living with rheumatic diseases.\n<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

\nRecipients of the CPI Award will conduct research with resources available in a clinical practice setting. Research could include quality improvement studies, practice-based learning collaboratives and feasibility or pilot studies aimed at generating preliminary data to support larger definitive studies.\n<\/p>\n

\n\u201cThe Foundation is committed to fostering innovation and advancing research for those living with rheumatic diseases,\u201d Foundation president V. Michael Holers, MD. \u201cCommunity-based practitioners have distinct perspectives with the potential to open a window of opportunity for disease investigation, we are thrilled to offer this important opportunity to help further revolutionize patient care.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\nThe Foundation\u2019s Scientific Advisory Council will select one recipient of this grant to receive the Norman B. Gaylis, MD Clinical Research Award.<\/i> Dr. Gaylis helped to establish this award to encourage practicing clinicians to research original ideas and improve treatment for rheumatic disease.\n<\/p>\n

\nThe award offers up to $80,000 a year, with the option for renewal for an additional year following a competitive review.\n<\/p>\n

\nApplications are due by Feb. 1, 2023. The Foundation will notify award winners by April 1, 2023. Judging criteria includes relevancy of the proposal to the Foundation\u2019s mission to aid those with rheumatic disease, project practicality, strength of innovated methods proposed, and valuable conclusions that will progress the mission of the Foundation.
