OTTAWA, Ontario–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#HR<\/a>–Today, BioTalent Canada launched new resources to help bio-economy employers adopt National Occupational Standards (NOS) into their recruitment and retention strategies. Included in the resources are seven additional NOS profiles, 23 executive summaries, and a \u201cHow-to<\/a>\u201d video for employers, job seekers and academia to integrate these valuable tools into their talent management and development plans.\n<\/p>\n

\nThe standards, whose establishment was funded in part by the Government of Canada\u2019s Sectoral Initiatives Program, have been validated by industry experts in those roles and indicate what skills, education, and credentialing are required to perform a specific role. Employers will use these standards for more effective recruitment, training, succession planning, and compensation benchmarking to meet their talent requirements.\n<\/p>\n

\n\u201cCanada\u2019s bio-economy is facing a severe talent shortage: 65,000 new positions will be needed by 2029 to sustain the industry, and these are forecast to remain vacant,\u201d says Rob Henderson, President and CEO of BioTalent Canada. \u201cThese standards will guide employers through the challenges ahead, ensuring the sector is hiring and retaining skilled and experienced talent.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\nAccording to BioTalent Canada\u2019s recent labour market information study, 70% of Canadian bio-economy employers indicate having no formal HR department. Resources like NOS offer significant supports for organizations looking to enhance their talent strategy but lack the in-house expertise.\n<\/p>\n

\nBioTalent Canada will be implementing the NOS into their products and services \u2013 like their National Compensation Guide, The PetriDish\u2122, and the BioSkills Recognition Program; giving employers tangible ways to use these NOS to help recruit and retain the talent they need.\n<\/p>\n
