\nInvestment addresses food and housing security, education and training, <\/i>maternity care, rural care and behavioral health.<\/i>\n<\/p>\n

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–UnitedHealthcare today announced an investment of over $1.1 million to organizations and initiatives focused on addressing social determinants of health by expanding health care access and improving health equity in New Mexico\u2019s frontier and urban communities. This investment includes over $380,000 in grants previously announced supporting maternity care, food and housing security and behavioral health.\n<\/p>\n

\nThe following investments are addressing the state\u2019s critical health disparities in five key areas:\n<\/p>\n

\n1. Food and Housing Security <\/b>($337,585)\n<\/p>\n

\nAs much as 80% of a person\u2019s health is based on factors outside the doctor\u2019s office<\/b>1<\/sup>. New Mexico ranks 7th<\/sup> in projected food insecurity<\/a> rates among all states.\n<\/p>\n
