\nJuno Pharmaceuticals importing six-months\u2019 worth of medication as supply drops to near-zero<\/i>\n<\/p>\n

TORONTO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Juno Pharmaceuticals Canada (\u201cJuno\u201d), a Canadian specialty pharmaceutical company, announced that it has received approval from Health Canada to import Eptifibatide solution for infusion and injection (\u201cEptifibatide\u201d) pursuant to Health Canada\u2019s exceptional importation and sale guidelines. Juno has procured for immediate release a six-month supply to the entirety of the Canadian market, helping to replenishing a dangerously depleted supply.\n<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

\nEptifibatide is indicated for use in patients with certain types of acute coronary syndromes (diseases where blood flow to the heart decreases or is obstructed) while they are undergoing particular interventions, such as intracoronary stenting, to help prevent blood clotting. The drug has been in limited supply since October 2022, and over the last five months, some hospitals have needed to resort to alternatives in its absence. According to Thrombosis Canada<\/a>, blood clots are responsible for one-in-four deaths in Canada each year.\n<\/p>\n

\n\u201cCanada is experiencing inconsistencies in stock across drug classes \u2013 from cold and flu to allergy, pain management and antibiotic medications. Eptifibatide is another drug on the laundry list of those Canadians have struggled to access for months,\u201d says Greg LaMorre, Director, Supply Chain & Vendor Relations. \u201cAs all other product has now been exhausted, this delivery comes at a critical time, and will provide immediate relief to hospitals across the country.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\nFollowing the children\u2019s medication shortages that dominated the headlines this winter, Juno\u2019s internal drug shortage division imported pediatric Amoxicillin, helping to provide relief to over 60,000 Canadian households to date.
