\nAsks for matching $100M commitment to buy and rehabilitate buildings <\/i>to house homeless over next three years<\/i><\/p>\n

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Housing justice advocates from AHF<\/a> and its housing division, Healthy Housing Foundation (HHF<\/a>), are issuing a $100 million matching challenge to the Los Angeles City Council. A full-page, full color advocacy ad set to run Sunday, April 9, 2023, in the main news section of the Los Angeles Times will announce the \u201c100,000,000 Homeless Challenge.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

\nAHF is pledging \u201c\u2026 it will invest $100 million to buy and rehab buildings over the next three years if the city, state, and feds will match it.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

\n\u201cAt $100,000 per housing unit, AHF\u2019s challenge\u2014should the city be bold enough to match it\u2014would house as many as 2,000 of LA\u2019s poorest residents and make a significant dent in housing our homeless population,\u201d said Michael Weinstein<\/b>, president of AIDS Healthcare Foundation. \u201cAt a time when five homeless people die on the streets of Los Angeles every day, we need urgent, decisive action.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nAHF\u2019s ad also asks the City Council \u201c\u2026 to move us through the permit and inspection process in record speed and to waive any city fees.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n
