DES MOINES, Iowa–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Wellabe has launched a new Critical Illness insurance product in 14 states1<\/sup> to protect the well-being of customers when they suffer from cancer, heart attack, stroke, or other critical illnesses. Underwritten by Medico\u00ae<\/sup> Insurance Company, Wellabe\u2019s Critical Illness insurance provides customizable coverage for individuals, couples, and families that pays a lump-sum cash benefit.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cNearly everyone knows a loved one who has been diagnosed with cancer or suffered a heart attack or stroke. Recent statistics say more than 2 million new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed this year in the U.S.2<\/sup>, and every 40 seconds, someone in America has a heart attack or stroke2<\/sup>,\u201d explains Erin Bueltel, Director of Product Solutions at Wellabe. \u201cThere\u2019s a very real need for this type of coverage, and Wellabe is proud to provide protection to customers with this new product.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nCustomers will choose between the Cancer and Cancer in Situ3<\/sup> or the Heart Attack and Stroke4<\/sup> base policies, then select from several optional riders to build their customized coverage package. The riders offered5<\/sup> can provide payouts for skin cancer diagnoses; radiation and chemotherapy treatments; and specified diseases, such as blindness, deafness, end-stage renal failure, or major organ failure that requires specialized treatment6<\/sup>. Policyholders can also select options to restore coverage if they fully recover from their initial diagnosis.<\/p>\n
