A Service Known as “Advance Provision” is Available Nationally Now
SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–A Safe Choice, a referral network of medical doctors who provide safe and effective medication abortion services nationwide, is urging women to order pills in advance, in light of current legal and political efforts to restrict access to reproductive healthcare.
A medication abortion, also known as a medical abortion or induced miscarriage, refers to the termination of a pregnancy that results from taking a combination of two FDA-approved medications, mifepristone and misoprostol. Telehealth medication abortion describes the provision of abortion care via telephone, consultations via video, and/or online communication between patients and healthcare providers. California is one of eight states that allows licensed healthcare providers to provide reproductive healthcare–including medication abortions–to patients who reside in other states.
